The author would have the student review concepts usually not associated with the study of business theory and practice which begin to move the student towards understanding how powerful the business function can become at increasing the quality of life for everyone. A classroom discussion guide is located at the back of the book (Appendix A, page 173). A practical case study (page 180) is presented for your review under the chapter 3 discussion topics and gives an industry example of how a difficult ethical environment (banking and financial services industry) can evolve over time as a result of changing industry standards and government regulations. Chapter 8 (page 147) includes the Student Summary found in the student edition. We ask the student to begin a review of the book by first reading the summary.

“It is my belief that it is easy to make business theory and practice difficult, and it is difficult to make it easy. I have found this to be true over the last 30 years by working with managers, senior executives, presidents and chief executive officers as they tried to develop their mission, culture, and operating statements.”
